Jean Schmidt and Attorney Joe Braun in Blatant Violation of IRS Code
Batavia, Ohio
Ohio Second Congressional District independent write-in candidate Nate Noy today continued on the path of his anti-corruption campaign trail by reporting Jean Schmidt, and her assistant campaign treasurer attorney Joe Braun to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service for a blatant violation of the IRS tax code.
Noy stated: “This violation is displayed loud and clear on Jean Schmidt’s website at: http://www.jeanschmidt.com/ContributeVolunteerGroup.htm .” The FEC and IRS law is very, very clear it states in Title 26 U.S.C. Section 6113 that ‘Each fundraising solicitation by (or on behalf of) an organization to which this section applies shall contain an express statement (in a conspicuous and easily recognizable format) that contributions or gifts to such organization are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes.’” Noy added: “Anyone can take a look for themselves at Schmidt’s website, there is NO non-deductibility statement anywhere to be found in this solicitation.”
Noy elaborated further: “Joe Braun is a licensed Ohio Attorney, as a fellow University of Toledo Law grad I am very disappointed that in his role as Assistant Campaign Treasurer for the Schmidt for Congress Committee that he would allow such a blatant violation of the law. I’m sure there will be inquires by the ethics and disciplinary committees of the State Bar and Supreme Court of Ohio. Joe’s a nice guys and it’s it really is a tragedy that he would allow his relationship with Jean Schmidt to potentially jeopardize his law license.”
