Congresswoman Jean Schmidt’s Illegal Trip to Communist Cuba Exposed
Congresswoman Jean Schmidt’s Illegal Trip to Communist Cuba Exposed
Cincinnati, Ohio
Ohio Second Congressional District independent write-in candidate Nate Noy today continued on the path of his anti-corruption campaign trail today by releasing evidence that Congresswoman Jean Schmidt took part in an illegal lobbyist funded trip to the Fidel Castro’s murderous communist regime in Cuba while she was a member of the Ohio legislature.
Noy who is a true conservative is now calling for Schmidt’s withdraw from the Congressional race stated: “Given Bob Ney’s recent conviction; Ms. Schmidt’s other ethics violations such as her lies about a college degree and subsequent lies to cover up the fact of this 16-year fabrication of the truth; plus her ties to other unethical individuals such as Tom Noe and Bob Taft I am hopeful that it is clear to everyone that not only can Jean Schmidt not be trusted but she is likely headed to the same jail cell as the aforementioned corrupt politicians. If Jean Schmidt has any integrity or dignity left it is time for her to step aside, face the justice she has coming to her, and not risk stealing votes from a true conservative that will truly represent the values of the people of the Ohio Second Congressional District.”
Evidence of Schmidt’s illegal trip can be found on the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation website: http://www.ofbf.org/page/REVN-5M9PH2/?OpenDocument . The link includes a picture of Schmidt in Cuba as well as her name listed as an official participant in the lobbyist funded event. The trip is along the same lines that led to the Bob Ney conviction.
Noy added further detail regarding Schmidt’s involvement in this latest scandal: “Jean Schmidt actually wrote a column advocating that ‘it is time to lift the embargo towards Cuba to help our farmers [sic].’” A copy of Jean’s column can be obtained at the Clermont County library or through the Community Press Newspaper; it appeared in the spring of 2003.
Ironically Schmidt has received a number of campaign contributions from anti-Castro PACs in 2006 including:
Democracy Believers PAC
1155 21st St. NW Suite 300
Washington, DC 20036
Date Contributed = 04/21/2006
Amount Contributed = 2000.00
IRL PAC
PO Box 10460
Burke, Virginia 22009
Date Contributed = 04/21/2006
Amount Contributed = 1000.00
US Cuba Democracy PAC
1200 W. 49th St.
Hialeah, Florida 33012
Date Contributed = 04/21/2006
Amount Contributed = 3000.00
Google them and you will learn that they are 527s organized by Republican members of congress who are Cuban-American and are opposed to doing business with Castro.
Noy further elaborated: “This should not come as a shock to anyone. On the one hand we have Jean Schmidt lining her pockets with contributions from anti-Castro money, but on the other hand we have her previously having gone on record as a pro-Castro supporter. I am rather concerned that the Republican Party would ever allow this woman to remain on the ticket, but given what I know about Schmidt I’d chalk this up to ‘Jean being Jean.’”
